Part 1: Play Writing Project
For the beginning of this project we got into groups of two and we began brainstorming original ideas for our plays. In my group we came up with the idea of police brutality and racism in the United States. Then we presented our ideas to the class and we chose which 5 plays we would continue working on. Ours was chosen as one of the 5 and our group of 2 became a group of 4. We then began writing our script and we went through many changes but at the end it was time to choose plays. We made tri-fold boards and went around looking at the other plays. We came to a final 3, which ours was in. But sadly once we read the plays and voted, ours came in second.

Part 2: The Great Dionysus Project Page
In this part of the project we started working on the winning play from our class. That play was a play called 'Don't Mean a Thing". I was a part of the writing team that would improve the play. After our script was finalized everyone was put into separate roles that included, actors, poster, set/props, and lights and sound.
"Don't Mean a Thing" is about two brothers who set off for the Vietnam war, Sam and Paul. But the younger brother, Sam, is a bit 'slow' so the older brother, Paul, tries to protect and look out for him. But Paul wants the respect of the other Marines, if Paul continuously steps up for Sam the other Marines wont care for him. So Paul starts to snap and be mean towards his brother. But in the end Paul makes a decision that he'll forever regret

In the play I was an actor, I played the part of Paul. I had to memorize lines everyday and practice everyday. I had the most lines out of everyone in the play, but it was okay, I had help memorizing all of my lines.
During the play project I felt like I've learned a lot about teamwork and how to cooperate with other people. I had a fun time with this project and it has inspired me to act more in the future.
