CHaos end grain cutting board
building Process1.) We cut pieces of hard wood into blanks.
2.) We glued the planks together and let them dry. We made two boards at first so they would fit into the planer. 3.) We cut the boards into strips, flipped them onto their end grain, and glued them back together. 4.) After letting them dry we cut the new board at a 5 degree cut, then we rearranged those strips, and glued them back together. 5.) We did the same thing again except we cut longways at 5 degree angle. 6.) Repeating again except with a 7 degree cut both short ways then long ways. 7.) |
reflectionsThis is definitely the hardest project I've ever done in my Principles of Engineering class. It took a long time to create. My partner and I wanted to make something unique for our final project, so we asked a teacher what they'd be willing to buy and they said a Chaos End Grain Cutting Board. So my partner and I went to work. I had to use trigonometry figure out how much wood I would need for our starting board.
